NIGHT OF THE DEMON will have a limited edition reversible cover
CODE RED received a larger number of complaints than usual regarding Maria Kanellis being on the covers and also how they are not reversible. If these complaints had been worded in a more kind or civil manner instead of being nasty, we would've listened to the requests. The NIGHT OF THE DEMON request really bugs me since the majority of kids want the original theatrical poster. After doing reseach, it was confirmed that a theatrical poster was never made for the film. Now we get down to the problem of the reversible cover. Since the majority of requests were made by people who made nasty comments, Code Red has decided to create a reversible cover and exclusively dedicates it to all the people who said nasty things about Maria. Enjoy the other cover! (:

Awesome. I look forward to the surprise. Is it reversed, in that the Bigfoot is in the corner, and Maria is on the main area of the cover? I guess I'll just have to wait and see...
Hahahaha... another unintentionally created collectible.
Do you honestly think being even more unprofessional than your track record so far will do anything at all to curb the complaints,, or endear you to your customer base???
If you don't like it, a/ shut up shop like to said you would, in one of your more memorable tantrums, OR b/ look at why you are continually getting *mostly well founded* if not entirely polite complaints and damned well do something about it - I am sure other labels don't cause nearly so much unhappiness and frustration in the horror community as you do... and most of it could be avoided by you doing the job right first time and not continually stirring up bad feeling with stunts like insulting DVD covers and snidey remarks on interviews [about BBNM] just to wind people up.
You're only hanging on by your fingernails because of some of the sought-after titles that occassionally come out. Push people too far and you might just get the 'finger' even if you do release something special. We pay your wages, and I for one am VERY close to seeing you starve and giving MY money to those who know customer service is king... Screw NOTD, I can live without it if you pull another cover stunt like Nightmare.
Is this why the title is delayed on Amazon? Looking forward to this release.

That would be awesome indeed! Now that would be a reversible cover I would use.

You know that you are pathetic? I don't think the horror "fan" as you are "pay the wages" of the Code Red employee as you as a group buy fricking nothing... So shut the fuck up and buy something else if you aren't happy! FYI I wait for some DVD release from Grindhouse Releasing, Dark Sky Films and Synapse since more than 5 years and I don't cry on their blog or Facebook page. Why? Because I have a life that doesn't depend of a film or two...
BYW can't wait to see the cover, hope it will be as fun as the Nightmare one.
Its amazing you guys puts more time and money into crap like this, instead of giving the people what they want, the titles that you guys claimed you were going to do. I hear all these posts about you guys being broke and almost out of business, heres a simple solution release more titles, and stop making all these crap announcements. I can only imagine how long you guys are going to fart around with getting ghostkeeper out, do you release how sought after that movie is, and your doing nothing with it, you guys really dropped the ball.
You guys complain about companies stealing your titles, well than release them like you say your going to and you wouldnt have this problem. Your refering to Scorpion Entertainment who has plans to release Human Experiments under the Katrinas Nightmare Theatre Series, which blows your Marias b movie mayhem out of the water. Put more effort into releasing instead of all these phony press releases that your going to be releasing this movie and that movie.
Josh, Scorpion is Code Red's brother...
Not hard to see who got the common sense and the marketing skills, and who is the twisted little runt who enjoys talking out of their behind with a long history of gaffs, lies, failures and outbursts at the buyers expense.
Scorpion announced the 'Girls & Horror' concept first ***with d/sided covers from the outset*** with no quibbles. How could Code Red get it so damned wrong when he is copying his brother's homework for Pete's sake..?
The relationship of the labels also explains how 'Who?', with Elliot Gould, got announced on CRs blog and has since turned up as a Scorpion Release instead.
I honestly don't care what CR releases anymore, or what sort of tantrums he throws on the covers... He insults everyone with this latest cover stunt - people who want NOTD but not the childish blurb are not going to wait for the first run to sell out in order to get the more 'grown up' wording... otherwise the first run simply will not sell out for the polite blurb to replace it. So everyone loses and has to put up with Bill's baby outbursts - whether they are facing the Amaray or the World you'll know it's there, and that spoils it. Nightmare selling it's initial 2,500 copies was a never to be repeated one-off for Code Red - pure luck that it was such a BIG release. NOTD is going to die on it's arse at 400-500 copies [like Code Red tells us a lot of his other releases do] so everyone gets stuck with Bill's childishness.
I am boycotting CR as of now, I can't think of a single unreleased horror film on my wants list that'd entice me back - not even Blood Beach which CR attempted unsuccessfully to negotiate several years ago. For the record I don't care about BBNM.
Come on people, BOYCOTT CODE RED,- hell, life is too short to let such an annoying little fool spoil the enjoyment of Horror Films. He hasn't got anthing THAT important to offer, since Nightmare came out, but plenty of other labels do...
So sad, some of thse responses. CR should just as well delete them, but..... Who knows.
As CR has said, these releases cost $. It almost makes me embarassed, I but the same shit you do, Josh.
Shut up, or buy a reel. Life is short.
Code Red was one of my favourite labels and I bought up to 30 of their titles. But sadly that has changed. I don’t get what this guy behind Code Red is doing. People complained about the cover art being ruined by the Maria pictures and the inappropriate personal jokes. Instead of listening to the fans he simply ignored these statements. He did not say a single word about the cover artwork being reversible or not. The fans had to wait for the first review to find out. Now he complains about the negative statements of the fans and even mocks them with the ‘reversible’ cover of Night of the Demon. Giving your customers the finger is more than just unprofessional. Learn a lesson from your brother who has given us quality releases where no one had to complain about stupid marketing decisions or image neurosis because he was clever enough to please everyone from the start.

Actually the brilliant thing that Scorpions Releasing do is to not have a blog, so no loosers anonymous with no life had a chance to jump in the whining bandwagon...
Contrary to many anonymous who don't buy the titles anyway I find it funny as hell that Code Red give them the cover they deserve. It's funny that except here, one forum I've quit some time ago and probably Horror Digital no forum I read make a big deal of what is on a cover... Probably because normal people watch the movies and not the covers.
I'm surpriced how those dumb people whine how the cover looks, i'm just happy over that the movie is finally out, and in a great release.
@ Jimmy
According to your statements the people who did not like the cover decisions don't have a 'life' and are not 'normal'.
I am really impressed by your argumentation skills and ingenious conclusions. You are the right spokesperson for Code Red.
These vultures on these comment boards are ridiculous. Bitter, fat toothpaste fillers with nothing better to do than attack a company.
That said, I hate to admit it, but they have a point about the snide remarks on covers. Scorpion chooses class over crass and it makes everybody love them. Code Red...man. I love you guys, but christ, knock it off with the cruel treatment of your films! The toilet menus, the '100,000 copies' joke and further knocks against the films being released are totally unprofessional and disrespectful to the movies being released. THIS IS COMING FROM A FAN WHO APPRECIATES YOUR WORK AND WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED! SO PLEASE LISTEN! Cut out the pre-schooler comments on the discs, spell check your covers, listen to what the sane fans want and make a compromise and stop letting the idiots get you riled up. Giving the middle finger to people, including those that deserve it, is a horrible marketing scheme, and will be your downfall if you keep it up. I have bought 15+ of your films and hope to keep it up for the future, and if you treat your work with elegance and proper procedure, you will be rewarded. Trust me. People would much rather buy a true DVD disc that a farcical one.

Real life people watch the movie, the extras and don't really care about the cover as it wasn't the reason why the dvd was bought. By exemple all the Redemption Films dvd covers are ugly and had nothing to do with the film themselves, but that didn't prevent me to buy them as I wanted the movie. For me all this silliness because of a cover is just another exemple of the usual trolling we read here from the anonymous. I don't say all the anonymous poster are like that, but I usually don't give a lot of credibility at someone who doesn't give his name.
And no I ain't a Code Red PR guy. I'm just a movie collector who find all this bashing stupid. Do you want to see all the independant labels close their doors and leave the market only to the majors. Good luck if you want to see sixties or seventies movies release properly (or even release) in the future.
I want to thank the babies at Code Red for letting us in on to their trite and childish way of alienating the consumers BEFORE I wasted any more money on their sub par releases. We don't need to support such nonsense.
Actually, I read the comments regarding your cover artwork and not all were as crass as your response. It shows that you would rather stoop to their level than show respect to your loyal customers.
Keep it up and I'm sure you won't be around much longer. I would much rather go without your product or what's better, simply purchase used items off the secondary market through second hand stores than spend another dime supporting such immature and assinine gimmicks.
Good luck maintaining the fan base you have with such immaturity. If you cannot take criticism, get some want ads and a new job.
Stop pissing and moaning about other companies supposedly ripping you off. Atleast they actually know what they are doing when it comes to putting out product.
*Once again, thanks for letting me know before I plunked down my change about your lame stunt. It saved me some cash and hopefully, in some way will hasten your company's inevitable closure.
*I'll give companies like Synapse the business they deserve. I'm only ten minutes from them as it is.
If anyone follows Code Red on twitter, I've never seen such unprofessional/half-insane posts on a company twitter profile. Definitely interesting reads though.
When I opened my DVD & pulled out the reversible cover... I thought it was pretty funny. What's with the outrage? The humor deficiency here is surprising.
Okay here is my two cents. You all cry about code red but you still waste time coming on here and complaining about stupid shit like cover art for some rare B movie that your lucky enough to have on DVD. Then why are you wasting your life? Time is important just stop buying from Code Red its that easy and ignore it. I for one have better things to do then to come on here and cry about how the cover art sucks. I love code red and will continue to buy his dvds. He puts out films that really are mostly forgotten the cover art dosen't matter that much I am just happy to have a nice dvd. I will defend him, Your all a bunch of cry baby's that have nothing better to do. Just don't buy his dvds and move on. I think its funny I bet you still buy the dvd he wins no matter what. You know Fox or MCA or any major studio will never put this shit out. Just enjoy it why you can. I hope he dosen't go under, the cover art isn't that big of a deal. In-fact your just looking for shit to cry about at this point no matter what he does you will bitch and moan. Get a LIFE!!! Damn I am film nerd and love these movies for what they are but some people go way too far over this Get Laid, Get out of the house, Do something Fun. Some 40 year old crying mommy the dvd cover sucks I hate code red bad bad bad. LOL! Good luck Code Red just make plain boring black DVD boxes for now on In fact save the money for more cool titles just put then in plain sleeves. Or just send them out with a pic of you giving a middle finger LOL I would gladly put that on my shelf
code red rules. just be glad this film is seeing the light of day. on another note, here's a petition to get CODE RED to release BUTCHER BAKER NIGHTMARE MAKER! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/coderedbbnm/
Please sign and support.
I received "Night of the Demon" today. I think it's a great idea to have a reversible dvd art cover. I liked the front as well as the reversible cover. The reversible art cover was hilarious! This will make me buy another copy. Bill, I think you did the right thing having Maria. I enjoyed watching her at the beginning and end of the "Night of the Demon." At least there's an option to watch without her if you don't enjoy Rhonda Shear or Elvira. More reversible art covers, more Maria, and more movies please! I liked the trailers of "Killpoint;" "Lowblow;" and "The Hearse." I hope Code Red releases them very soon! By the way, the restoration for NOTD was very nice and I'm glad to have an official release of this movie in my collection. Thanks Code Red! By the way people, I think Bill has a good sense of humor and enjoys riling everyone up, because he's getting your attention.
I think it's really cool you compromised like this!
I love all of your dvd's. Everyone who complains can go fuck themselves with a splintered stick. My only complains is that I wish that some of your titles didn;t go out of print. Because they go out of print, the same people who complain, sell their copies for absurd prices on ebay. They can all go eat a dick. Thank you again code red for released awesome flicks!
It's great that 'Vampire at Midnight' finally comes with a reversible cover. I hope that Code Red keeps this strategy for the upcoming Maria titles. It's so easy to make everyone happy.
It would be great if the second pressings of Haunted, Mardi Gras Massacre and Night of the Demon also came with reversible covers of the original cover art. I would double dip in a minute. It would also be great is they let the customers know if the DVDs come with reversible covers. Scorpion always give the info in their press releases.
Sweet Jesus some peeps are way too obsessed! cover it in a plain brown paper bag for all I care, its the contents that count.
As for those who complain, zip it and go produce your own custom cover if it makes your panties bunch up so.
Thanks so much for the reversible Night of the Demon cover. Without it I would never have bought it, but just downloaded instead. But i am a collector and am against downloads.
In a day when it harder and harder to sell DVD's and make a profit it makes absolutly no sense to waste money on some Wrestling chick. She maybe horrible but horror she is not. Losing her or customers seems like a no brainer but then again????
Reversible covers or no sale.
Yeah, No theatrical poster was made. BUT there was an original video poster for it, which is the Cloudy/Moon background on black with Night of the Demon in white text across the bottom. Would have been nice to see this, I honestly DESPISE the Maria covers and the entire concept of her being involved with these classic films, but, I Care about the film being remastered and uncut, not who presents the film or who releases it on DVD for that matter. Be thankful this film looks great now and it is available to you. Or do you guys prefer bootleg dvds taken from a 4th generation VHS copy????
Code Red needs to shape up, for sure. But you fucking idiot's are 100x worse.
The problem Code Red has is that its market are dvd collectors. Not average movie watchers. I think alot of these people have o.c.d. and are obsessed with their collection. This Maria chick on the cover spoils it for them. Then they get nasty on this comment board.
I wish Code Red all the best
i love the NOTD reverse cover art. a true kick in the balls for all those who complain about petty shit such as cover art. thanks code red.
was the Primal Rage dvd intended to play w/out an interactive menu? kinda feels like a VHS tape.
