LAWRENCE DANE and ROBIN GAMMELL drop by for some RITUALS.

Actor/producer Lawrence Dane and actor Robin Gammell both gave us a fun interview for our upcoming DVD release of RITUALS. Lawrence was happy to give us an audio commentary wherein he told some insightful stories about the film. One interesting comment that Lawrence contributed was about why the ending is so poor looking on all prints of the film (it was incorrectly done by the lab at the time and that's all that exists of that footage). Lawrence also talked about his other filmwork and what he is doing today. Robin, on the other hand, is actually getting married soon and is about to now go through some of those type of 'rituals'! RITUALS is coming soon, uncut and in the best possible presentation from the producer's private print. Don't lose your head over it.

lol....What can they possibly do to fix it given the information they posted from Lawrence Dane??!! Better to leave it alone than make it worse with some computer enhancing/photoshop type bullshit!

**Im adding this from the last post.. There was too many posts and i want this shit at the TOP**

Im a HUGE supporter of Code Red (Im the one who made the "Code Red" Amazon Listmania Lists on my own free time) BUT i wish that they would come through with some more info on releses and keep shit a little bit more accesable to the fans..
The reason people keep getting pissed is because they hear about releases like "Nightmare" or "Night Warning" and then shit movies like "Pets" come out instead..
Anyways im not bashing CR at all.. Sheeit, Thats my favorite distributor! HERES WHAT YOU SHOULD DO (I know you motherfuckers read this shit) - You guys need to UPDATE your website and CREATE A FORUM!! This "Blog" shit is WACK! Is this how "Blue Underground" or "Troma" run things?
The only way i was able to air my thoughts was to comment on some wackass post about LD and RG doing an interview (theres more info on dudes wedding that there is on future releases!).. You guys need to add a FORUM to your website. Believe me that will put you guys on the map.. One guy said he made a "Fans of CR" Facebook page! He did more work than you guys!!

Another thing.. To all you fucking lame ass idiot who crybaby about the "quality" of transfers - You guys need to shut the fuck up!! Seriously! On the last post some loser left a comment about the video quality of "Pets".. What a fuckin LAME! Who wants to watch am oldschool exploitation movie in High Definition? I agree that when a film is too dark it makes the film hard to watch, but seriously, WHO CARES about there being spots and little blemish's on the transfer! These movies used to Look like SHIT! And when they were filmed they were not shot with the director (or the DP) thinking it would look like a million bucks.. These films were NOT made by Paramount or MGM.. They were made by scumbags and wierdo's with junkie ass video cameras!
STOP WHINING ABOUT THE FILM QUALITY!! Just be glad its on DVD!!

Thats my 2 cents..
PLEASE put up a forum for your fans on your website.. You guys are not professional enough to update your news properly and if you had a forum the fans would fix that problem for you (and you'd get regulars, which equals more buyers, which equals MORE MONEY - Which ultimatly equals MORE RELEASES!!

Oh yeah, to the idiots who keep on bringing up "Mya Com" - Are DVD distributors like football teams or some shit? Why people gotta be making comparisons.. We all have our favorites, but theres no need to be bashing one company over another.. Mya has alot of good releases BUT they are releasing stuff to fast and lately everything thats been coming out SUCKS!! Seriously.. Its a bunch of boring, lame - Sleep inducing SHIT! I personally OWN 21 MYA Films and i've collected EVERY SINGLE "No Shame" DVD.. I think that the quality of films has gone straight down the shitter, BUT i till love em.. Hopefully they dont go outta biz like NoShame did..

CANT WAIT FOR RITUALS!!!
You guys should try to release HUNTERS BLOOD too.. Thats a dman fine film!! WORD!

ok, he may only have a scarce grasp of grammar and perhaps has too much time on his hands but Mark Grizzly makes a great point. A forum would be fantastic in lieu of Code Red being able to regularly facilitate updates. The supporters of Code Red are very loyal and deserve better. I would love to see Code Red flourish, but at this point they don't seem to be able to do it on their own.

Yeah, that Facebook thing was me. In the first week or two, without any publicity, well over 200 people joined. Now it's up to 263, and all the feedback has been pretty positive regarding the CR releases.

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=139870677187

Hopefully, if this posts right, you can click my name and go to the group...

I've tried e-mailing Code Red to get permission to use images from the site a few times on the group, but gave up after never getting a response.

You're right, getting release info has been a struggle. I try to add updates and alerts to let the member know what's coming out so they can place their orders, but since RITUALS I haven't know what to tell anyone, and as you can see there's no mention of Rituals on the blog.

If the company needs someone dedicated to handle some of these information-related issues, I'm more than willing to help donate some time. I just need people to return e-mails and communicate.

Best of luck with the upcoming releases, guys.

Mark Grizzly , you have no idea about cult movies. Who wants to see amazon listmania and your labelling of code red dvds by spine number , have you got nothing better to do with your time , like get a job?. I can see the spine number when i buy the DVD. And you are a troll in your own right mate for you have to learn the basic rule which is respecting other fans opinions. I personally like a certain amount of print damage on old movies - gives it a grindhouse feel but jump cuts every 10 mins or so is a real pain rather like yourself. Why would you want to call code red mother f*****s anyway if you are hell bent on supporting them. I have purchased every code red dvd title available and know more than you ever will. you Lame. Code red should be releasing the prmised overdue titles , but it looks like scorpion records is going to be another good label perhaps joining with code red aswell , just ordered silent scream and they look like a very promising company. Mark grizzly look for better ways to spend your time mate , the dvd world dosn't want you in it (lol). Arrivederci.

I'm hearing alot of rumours so I need to know; is the DVD release of Rituals cancelled? Please respond ASAP. Thanks.

I think the problem lies in Code Red, not communicating to its supporters in a more professional way. Yes, Rituals was supposed to be released on Nov. 17th... and then Dec. 22nd....and know who knows... but, It wouldnt matter if it had to be released until 2011 because the point is that we who help support an independent company would like to be INFORMED as to what is going on with release dates, etc. Yes, i cant fathom the work that whomever runs Code Red has to go through, but when you run a company, there are some basic formula's that should be followed in respect to the consumers that purchase your product. When someone has a release date posted, and it is pushed back...and pushed back again, there should be some updates as to whats going on, especially if the company has a website. When these types of things reoccur, it is quite natural for folks to perceive this type of irresponsibility as dishonest, misleading, deceptive and maybe even grimy...

Looks like RITUALS has been postponed indefinitely. Is there any word from CODE RED as to when it may come out, and what is causing the delay?

Also, is CODE RED ever considering releasing anything on blu-ray? While I understand some people want the grindhouse look and all, NEW YORK RIPPER and LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE look fantastic on blue.

A DISGRACE TO THESE FILMS... said...

Hey...Thanks for the release on rituals.... you are one of the most honest distributers ever! ! What was your purpose in decieving the public about your dvd release of this film? You lack even the most basic forms of honesty, dignity and principle. I am not trying to attcak you personally, although it might be a challenge to your character, but your irresponsibility to the people who have supported you so feverishly is atrocious and disrespectful. Are my thoughts ridiculous, or unfounded?

Monroville said...

Sooo... what happened to this?! Is this ever coming out, or is it going in the same warehouse all of those THE KEEP dvds went to back in 2003?

It ain't so good that it would beat what Code Red has promised, but while we wait, there's a pretty good, and, as far as I can tell, complete version of RITUALS available with burned in German subtitles that sometimes surfaces on eBay. I've seen it, and about four other versions: the Astral and Embassy VHS versions, the atrocious Synergy R1 DVD - which should be Avoided At All Costs, Even Free, since seeing it can do nothing but tarnish a really fine film - and a complete but very pink film print that played a few years ago at Vancouver's Vancity Theatre. The German version, overall, is probably the best of them, tho' it has issues, too (and will require you to have an all-region player and a PAL friendly TV, I should note). While you wait for Code Red, you can read my review and contemplate if this sounds like it might be worth checking out this version. You'll still want to upgrade to the Code Red DVD, IF it ever comes out, but like I say, in the meantime, this is the best you're likely to get:

To the CODE RED guys (from Monroville):

First, I really do appreciate the effort you put into releasing the hard-to-find stuff like PRIMAL RAGE.. but things like THE VISITOR and RITUALS (hell, even OPEN SEASON and EXPOSE) are much more preferred. If anything, you should poll your fans for flicks they want on dvd. That "may" improve sales a bit, as you would at least be spending money on stuff that people really want.

Speaking of RITUALS, I see my last post was APRIL, with no word from you guys... do you care about any of this? WHAT. IS. GOING. ON. WITH. THIS. TITLE. Seriously, just a word or two. Something.

BTW, I have the X-Rated release of RITUALS from Germany, and it is passable but not that great. Colors are relatively normal (no pink wash or color shifts), but clarity is pretty poor. I would say that it is good drive-in fare and would do until CODE RED releases this...

Code Red, PLEASE put out this DVD in April as promised. While you're at it, put out NIGHT WARNING, too--whatever happened to that one? Promised, promised, promised....and never released?!
