Guy Magar was kind enough to drop by a recording studio to record an audio commentary for his cult hit RETRIBUTION. Guy sat down and did a solo commentary telling us how he made the film and how scenes where shot. This insightful and trivia filled commentary will be a rollercoaster ride for all RETRIBUTION fans. CODE RED received a larger number of complaints than usual regarding Maria Kanellis being on the covers and also how they are not reversible. If these complaints had been worded in a more kind or civil manner instead of being nasty, we would've listened to the requests. The NIGHT OF THE DEMON request really bugs me since the majority of kids want the original theatrical poster. After doing reseach, it was confirmed that a theatrical poster was never made for the film. Now we get down to the problem of the reversible cover. Since the majority of requests were made by people who made nasty comments, Code Red has decided to create a reversible cover and exclusively dedicates it to all the people who said nasty things about Maria. CHARLES NAPIER DIES AT AGE 75

The first time I met Charlie, I was introduced to him by Russ Meyer. I had a video store at the time and bought several vhs tapes off Russ and I mentioned that I would like to make a movie with Charlie. 24 hours later, I got a call from Charlie. He told me Russ hardly ever called him and he was really surprised Russ called him out of the blue and told him all about this young man that talked highly of him and wanted to make a film with him in it. A few months later I was having dinner with Charlie, Russ, and Buck Flower. No film was ever made, and all three people are no longer with us. When I was in Los Angeles at the Century Hotel in May 2011, producer Igo Kantor told me that Charlie was in the hotel doing Igo's film. I could have stayed and talked to him (since I hadn't seen him since 1993), but I had a previous engagement to attend. I guess we'll go drinking in another life, sorry I missed you in this life. You'll always be a pal...Charlie.

EMMETT ALSTON GIVES CODE RED AN AUDIO COMMENTARY FOR "VAMPIRE HOOKERS"

Director Emmett Alston (NINE DEATHS OF THE NINJA, NEW YEAR'S EVIL) gives CODE RED an audio commentary for the 1978 comedy VAMPIRE HOOKERS. Emmett was the production supervisor on the film and was on the location 50% of the time. He helped edit, coordinate, and also cast this funny drive-in classic. Emmett gives us the ins and the outs for the film, which he also acted in (!) VAMPIRE HOOKERS will be released with WEEKEND PASS in an upcoming MARIA'S B MOVIE MAYHEM.

ROBERT VINCENT O'NEILL GIVES US AN COMMENTARY FOR BLOOD MANIA

Recently, Bob was kind enough to come in to give us an audio commentary for BLOOD MANIA. The moderator did not show up, so Code Red president Bill sat with Robert to do the commentary, which didn't turn out as planned. Bob admitted that of all the films he made, this is one that he was not pleased with, so the sluggish film turned into a sluggish commentary. The film takes place in one location (one house) so very little can be said about the location, so the commentary turned into a retrospective of Bob's career. The majority of web critics hate when a commentary shifts away from the film on hand, but when nothing is happenning in the film, shifting the conversation to another subject is the only thing to do. Also, the DVD we viewed skipped and ended early at the 70 minute mark. Bob is willing to do a 2nd commentary with cast and crew, so BLOOD MANIA might be blessed with 2 commentaries.

PAUL HUNT PASSED AWAY AT AGE 67

PAUL HUNT DIES AT AGE 67

CODE RED has learned that PAUL HUNT, director, producer, and writer of many exploitation films has passed away on September 13. Paul wanted CODE RED to release TWISTED NIGHTMARE, DEMON WIND, and THE GREAT GUNDOWN, but we were unable to find 35mm prints of these films. The last conversation I had with Paul was back in April when he called me at 1:00am telling me that his mother was in the hospital. He wanted to talk to me to get his mind off what was happening and he started to tell me all these crazy stories about his past films (e.g. Quincy Jones was originally supposed to do the music for ERIKA'S HOT SUMMER!!!) He kept telling me that Gary Graver's family have his 35mm prints and that we can put out deluxe editions of the films he made, but it's a shame nothing was found and we never were able to do anything. We'll miss you Paul and will remember you for all the films you worked on.

With Maria Kanellis' new B movie line starting on 9/13 with LOVE ME DEADLY/CAMPUS CORPSE, then HAUNTED on 9/20, and both MARDI GRAS MASSACRE and SCREAM/BARN OF THE NAKED DEAD on 9/27, CODE RED decided to let Maria have a photo shoot (sort of like WWE does) to promote her vision on horror films and B movies. These photos are what Maria's fans are looking forward to, and hopefully everyone can enjoy looking at them. We are going to show a few photos at a time on the Code Red website!!! Hopefully, Code Red and Maria Kanellis can bring more product to the DVD arena and maybe we can raise some interest for a TV show one day.

CODE RED GETS AN AUDIO COMMENTARY WITH DIRECTOR MARK HERRIER FOR THE UPCOMING DVD RELEASE OF "POPCORN"

Mark Herrier was kind enough to drop by to give us a very informative audio commentary that answers many of the behind-the-scenes questions regarding POPCORN. Mark explained everything about Bob Clark's involvement in the production and why Clark didn't want any billing credit on the finished film. Mark also explained that the Bob Clark who was billed on the film as a make-up guy was coincidentally just someone else with the same name (!) Finally, Mark goes into detail about the troubled production and how he ended up directing about 70% of the film, with Alan Ormsby having directed about 15% and Clark directing 15%. The day Mark arrived on the set to take over the directing reigns, he was simply handed the script with basically no time to prepare before he had to start shooting. Lots of great trivia and behind-the-scenes details were revealed in this very frank commentary that shines new light on a very-troubled production. POPCORN has definitely found its way into many horror film fans' hearts and has become a cult classic regardless of its problematic production issues. Now genre fans can finally hear the raw truth about the creation of one of their most beloved horror films and see how all the pieces finally came together. POPCORN is coming back soon. EDWARD MURPHY CAME BY TO GIVE US AN AUDIO COMMENTARY FOR RAW FORCE.

EDWARD MURPHY, director, writer, producer, gave us an audio commentary for the cult hit RAW FORCE. The film was out on a few multi-pack labels some years ago that everyone enjoyed and supported, but it'll finally be out in a quality presentation. RAW FORCE has never been requested by internet action fans for CODE RED to handle, but since no other company stepped up to the plate, we are going to release it in 2012. Sorry to disappoint many people out there, but if we didn't move on it, the film would've just sat there indefinitely.

JAG MUNDHRA PASSED AWAY. AGE 64

CODE RED was in email talks with cult director JAG MUNDHRA to do an audio commentary for many of his films this month such as HACK-O-LATERN (aka HALLOWEEN NIGHT). Jag was very happy and excited to tell all the behind the scene stories about this film and many erotic thrillers he directed. jag was supposed to be in Los Angeles in mid-September to do a series of audio commentaries he was going to conduct. He died on the 4th in Bombay.

We at Code Red DVD try hard to release lost classics and restore them for the dvd market. Lately, several of our titles are showing up overseas and the majority are not authorized. One French dvd label stole two of our masters and are making a hefly profit while Code Red still in the red ink on many of our titles. Germany has also been on the bandwagon to steal our masters and also our extras. The UK, Italy and Australia have been farming off us, also. If this continues, there is no point of remastering anything if all the profit goes to the overseas thieves. If you live overseas and see a title Code Red released, feel free to contact us and we can let you know if it is legit or some rich snobby overseas company stealing and pissing on the mission that we set out to keep these film alive. You have to realize that it's impossible to keep these films going when someone is making a buck on your work before you break even. Post any comments on these releases and we will let you know if they are legit or stolen.

CODE RED DVD has acquired the North American rights to the cult classic SAVAGE STREETS starring cult icon Linda Blair. After her sister (Linnea Quigley) was gang raped by crazed gang members, Linda Blair goes into vengeance-action mode in this gritty 80's classic. The release will feature a brand new 2011 HD transfer that will make its debut only here in the USA. Extras will be ported over from the previous BCI disc, and it will include some other extras that didn't make it the first time around. This DVD will also feature the complete controversial uncensored commentary track - the track on the BCI edition had been edited for various reasons. Special effects make-up artist Edward French, Oscar Nominee and Emmy Winner, quickly gave CODE RED a last minute interview regarding the New York gore scene in NIGHTMARE! French told us about his involvement in the effects, including who made the decapitated head, and who supervised it and who was there. Cleve Hall did the Florida scenes, but now we'll all finally know who did the bloody final scene! French also gave us some other wonderful stories regarding RIOT ON 42nd STREET, BLOOD RAGE, BREEDERS and DEADTIME STORIES. The insghtful interview will hopefully be edited on time and be featured on the dvd!

DVD INDUSTRY LOSES A VETERAN

Code Red is sad to hear someone new on the block in the DVD industry have passed away. Larry Gold Sr, owner of the vhs label from United Kingdom called INTERVISION died in March following a massive coronary at his home in Thailand. No other news sites are mention this, nor mention his age, but we like to offer saddness and sympathy to a fellow brother in the DVD industry, All we know is that he leaves behind two sons and 850 films from his Solid Gold films LTD. We will post more news regarding his death and where you can send flowers to The Chancery of the Philippine Embassy, which is located along Sukhumvit Road. For those attending his funeral, please give us a report on his burial.

We quickly rushed and got LQ JONES to sit down with us for a quick chat to speak directly to fans of THE WITCHMAKER regarding his views on the film. He even wanted fans of the film to write in and speak some criticism about the film! On release date, CODE RED and LQ JONES will take both your praise and complaints about the film on this blog! OLD NEWS FOR THE MUTILATOR (for people who forgot)

There have been some 2ND hand statements and slanderous lies posted on few message boards regarding CODE RED and the motion picture THE MUTILATOR. Here is the truth once again to set the records straight.

(1) CODE RED has a valid contract with Buddy Cooper on the film.

(2) Mr. Cooper told us that he had the negative and prints in New York, but later we realized that the place was gone. Buddy used his assistant to search for it, only to come up empty handed.

(3) Buddy did find a 3/4 inch tape (I recall the R cut), but this is unusable for today's standards for a DVD release. 3/4 will look worse than your old VHS Vestron Tape and most likely will not play since it has had a 15 year lifespan.

(4) A youtube video poped up with Buddy showing a storage shack with some 35mm cans in the background. I talked to Buddy and he told me it was empty. He did find some trims and some trailers which we sent to a Los Angeles lab (the one Something Weird used). The 35mm trailer was damaged due to poor storage/weather conditions after 25 years. If there had been a 35mm print inside, it would most likely also be damaged/beyond repair.

(5) Rumor circled around that Movielab New York had the negatives. Cliff MacMillan of BCI personally asked Mike Vraney of Something Weird and he didn't have it. It was not at Movielab. Since then, many print collectors and film storage people were contacted. Nothing.

We can't understand why so many people spew slanderous lies about us regarding this film. We have mentioned these facts countless times, but it seems we might have to put this bulletin out once a year. If Buddy has a 35mm usable print, he never told us or delivered it to us. This is the 2011 bulletin. Come back next year to probably see the same bulletin all over again. This is what we have on the table, nothing else.

THE LAST CHASE DISC - TEMPORARY RECALL

are sad to inform fans that THE LAST CHASE dvd has been temporarily recalled due to an error in the authoring by the new authoring house we just used. Any discs that may have been mailed out will be destroyed and new corrected ones will be pressed soon. We know there is a good chance that some opportunists will jump in garbage cans and try to to sell any defective discs they can find as some sort of collectible, but we stongly urge buyers not to buy the recalled version of this disc as it is simply a poorly authored product. The problem is that the audio was 3 seconds off and out-of-sync, so it's like watching a badly dubbed film with the mouths not matching the dialog. The error by the place was not caught on time, unfortunately, but is now being rectified for the quality final release version. CODE RED ASKS FILM FANS FOR FEEDBACK

We have been receiving many emails regarding CODE RED titles being released on Blu-Ray. We looked into sales of Blu-Ray and the product is simply not moving as well as most people think it is. It costs 3 times more money to release a blu-ray, and Sony needs to get paid also. With the Blu-ray market being at 18% and the code red titles in 2010 selling between 174 to 2,156 units, Blu-ray releases will never even come close to breaking even. We do have many HiDef masters and it's a shame not to release these film on a beautiful format. But an idea has come up, as we can release older CODE RED titles on a double-bill Blu-Ray with no extras for $26.98. This will not make the old dvd obsolete and it's basically just an upgrade disc for the movies themselves. Reason for the price is these dvd will most likely sell no more than 388 copies (18%). What do you all think? Please post comments.

WARNING: HOW TO SCORE WITH GIRLS + WHITE RAT

CODE RED has uncovered and will release two rare motion pictures shot in New York and that were thought to be completely lost. The first one is HOW TO SCORE WITH GIRLS, a wild comedy about some groovy GI's on a crazy night in the big city on a mission to get some hot chicks! Originally released as CRY YOUR PURPLE HEART OUT, the film was soon re-released by NMD Pictures under the HOW TO SCORE WITH GIRLS title. The filmmaker, Ogden Lowell, told us that only eight 35mm prints of the film were ever struck and that the negative is no longer at Technicolor and is basically lost. CODE RED searched high and low and was unable to find any of the eight 35mm prints anywhere. Ogden did still happen to have a 3/4 inch tape master made in 1980, so thankfully the film is not completely lost. Although the best materials for this film are no longer available, we feel this very rare film still deserves to be seen, even in its only surviving elements. The second film is the 1972 feature WHITE RAT, made by the team of director Steven Mullin and writer Nick Paindiris. Paindiris once had his own private 35mm print, but that print was lost after a prank caused by the lab at the time, and it has disappeared ever since. Mullin did still have a vhs tape of the film (with some worn spots), and since that is the only copy of this lost film still available, that will have to be our master and we hope fans can still enjoy seeing this very rare film even in this form. Since both films are from old tape masters, we talked to the rights owners and they have agreed for us to double bill them accordingly and we do feel the need to inform the consumer upfront about this. These films are not remastered in any way and come from tape masters, as the proper elements no longer exist, so we at CODE RED DVD politely suggest that you do not buy the dvd if you are expecting high quality remastered transfers. This is the only way these two lost films will be out in any condition, unfortunately, and there's simply no way for any of us to turn back time and retrieve these films' negatives which disappeared a long time ago. We do think both films are wildly entertaining exploitation films of a bygone era, and we truly hope that discerning fans can still enjoy them regardless of the less-than-stellar surviving master materials used. CODE RED listen to GOD'S BLOODY ACRE fans!

We recently had a problem with the GOD'S BLOODY ACRE dvd and the disc was recalled and not shipped to most internet stores. Since this product was created many months ago, the disc data was no longer on our hard drive and we'd have to re-do the whole thing from scratch. Since the pre-order was so small & non-existant, we instead decided to release the film with another Wayne Crawford/Andrew Lane film, TOMCATS, in the hopes it would sell more units. The negative and 35mm print were lost on TOMCATS, but Wayne had the "longer version" on a 3/4 inch tape master before the distributor edited the film to get an "R" rating. But for some strange reason on the message boards, the buying public is screaming to find the recalled GOD'S BLOODY ACRE disc to the point of overpaying on ebay for the handful of discs that leaked out and should've been sent back or destroyed. We were amazed that people who don't usually buy CODE RED titles now want this title more than ever. We do listen to the demands and complaints and we would hate to see these scalpers and opportunists rip-off our consumers $275 to buy this film on dvd. So we will release the title again by itself and quickly reconstruct everything, including the controversial "uncensored" Crawford interview and get it on the market asap. You guys want it now & can't wait, so we listened to your cries! It'll be out again within a month to give all the fans what they want, and to stop the scalpers on ebay from selling this title for 40 times the wholesale cost.

Code Red DVD To Release Ghostkeeper

Due to overwhelming demand from horror fans, Code Red has acquired the 1981 Canadian slasher film Ghostkeeper.

A trio of friends on a snowmobile trip in the Canadian Rockies become lost after venturing up a trail during a bad snowstorm. They stumble upon a seemingly abandoned hotel lodge and decide to spend the night, unaware of the grave danger that they have put themselves in.

Internet columnist Amanda By Night says, “this Canadian horror film is slasher and monster lite, but has oodles of snow and deep synthesizer sounds to keep you going. Like ‘Madman’, or more appropriately, ‘The Prey’.”

Director Jim Makichuk is on hand to create extras for this lost slasher.

The film stars the deadly villainous actor Gustav Vintas (remember this guy in Madonna's RESPECT YOURSELF video?) as a hypnotic vampire who is killing victims in Los Angeles. The film was released by CBS/FOX video back in the vhs days! In this acquisition, we also acquired the 1995 sex comedy classic WILD MALIBU WEEKEND!. The film stars Playboy playmate Barbara Moore, Shauna O'Brien and was co-produced by Grindhouse Releasing's own Bob Murawski (Oscar Winner, SPIDERMAN). More news TBA!

Code Red has inked an exclusive deal with VCX to release their back catalog titles of horror films. VCX has opened the vault to give us several classics, like the demonic gory-torture film MARDI GRAS MASSACRE, the Bigfoot run rampant classic NIGHT OF THE DEMON (1980), and the 1978 occult classic HAUNTED starring Aldo Ray!! David Sutton, President of VCX says, "I look forward to Code Red releasing some of our non-adult films back into the marketplace for all the fans to enjoy them once again." We at Code Red are very excitied about this business venture with VCX and hope to release these films before September 2011!

Romano Scavolini's NIGHTMARE soon to be out!

Our long awaited and most troubled title, NIGHTMARE, will finally be released on DVD in late 2010. This over budgeted project has been plagued with problems from the beginning: the damaged negative was unusable, four 35mm prints that had been claimed to be "pristine" were covered in white dots and emulsion scratches, and there were 3 botched telecine jobs on the transfer. Then there was the overpriced money pit extra of the Romano Scavolini interview that was supposed to have been shot in English, but was conducted in Italian. Anyway, it is not just translating the interview from Italian to English - that is fairly easy. The main issue is that every line of the translation needs to be timed to when Scavolini is talking so that it can be matched to when he's speaking. It's not as easy as using a dialog list for a feature film where you have various characters conversing and it's easy to put the subtitles where/when they belong. This Scavolini interview is basically a 95-minute one man talking feature-length film and requires much more than a translator just writing down what he's saying on a piece of paper. In case you are not aware, a 95-minute interview is much more dialog driven than an average feature film - and that is why the subtitling houses wanted more money for this project than subtitling an actual movie. The budget of this release is already way beyond the estimated sales and I simply do not have the money to put anything more into it. DVD sales have been extremely poor for the last 14 months and breaking even in this business is becoming a pipe dream.

To fix the best out of the 3 telecines we did, it is costing $42,000 to do it right (or more like passable). CODE RED does not recoup $42,000 in sales on any title. Overseas sales could be one way of recouping, but the film is already being bootleged in most countries even though it has a valid copyright. There is no way of stopping these thieves and no way of us getting some overseas funds to fix the film. Currently, a German DVD sleazeball label is bootlegging 4 of our titles, the same 4 we still haven’t recouped on. They saw profit before we even got to it.

Another problem was that many fans wanted the NIGHTMARE IN A DAMAGED BRAIN version, which is very strange as that is the UK title and it’s the cut version. It never played anywhere outside of the UK under that title. If any of you want that cut version, I can’t help you.

Goldmine Productions wants NIGHTMARE out and the fans want it out, so the most we can do is put out what we have done and move on. For the extras, we do have the participation of Baird Stafford and also main special effects man (Florida scenes) Cleve Hall. This is all we can deliver as far as extras at this time. There is a remote chance the Scavolini interview may be worked out in time for the release, but at this moment, that is not confirmed or finalized so as it stands now we have to say it won't be included. Also, this may be hard to believe to fans of NIGHTMARE, but most of the people who worked on the film do not like the film, were never fully paid, and have nothing but bad memories working on it. 90% of the people we asked turned us down for an interview. One even said he wished the film would go away and he was happy that the negative was destroyed. Of course, we know the fans absolutely LOVE the film and that's what really counts.

NIGHTMARE received twice the amount of email requests as our recently released SLITHIS, and that movie only sold 489 copies. NIGHTMARE has to sell 4,200 copies just to break even. That amount is practically impossible in today’s market for a niche title as this. Simply put, the funds coming in from my second business and freelance work are currently paying for CODE RED’s losses.

For the horror fans who didn’t support us in our past releases, it will be eBay time soon for stores/dealers because many of our titles will be Out Of Print by the beginning of next year. It’s fun to rent, but pretty soon if you want to own these discs, you better do so soon as several of our catalog titles are no longer going to be repressed. THE FOREST (special edition version), DOOM ASYLUM, FABULOUS JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH and DEVIL TIMES FIVE (special edition version) are out of print. Many other title like THE UNSEEN, BOARDINGHOUSE, SOLE SURVIVOR, RUNNING HOT, and PETS will not be repressed and some of them have a very limited quantity left.

In any event, the long wait is finally over. NIGHTMARE is coming to DVD in 2010 in its best possible presentation. We hope you all enjoy the release and appreciate all your patience. Watch this spot for the official announcement of the streetdate. Thanks for the support!

RIP Tony Fish

Fish had joined Sales and Ehlers, as well as the late Joe Giannone, on the audio commentary track for the first DVD release of "MADMAN" from Anchor Bay some years ago. We wish to send our condolences to his family and friends, and hope fans of the film will always remember his fun performance in the film.

It's just very tough and time-consuming running things all by myself and this is a one-man operation. I do appreciate all the youtube videos and even a facebook fan-page created by a supporter who took the time and energy to do it. I wasn't even aware of this until recently and it's terrific. All of you guys are the best! Please check this blog from time to time to see updates for our future titles as we have many coming in the new year. Comedies, madmen, zombies, and action films from the glorious cult & exploitation past, and even some of those 'much-demanded' titles that fans have been waiting so patiently for, will finally be unleashed to fill up your collections if you are so inclined. We will still continue our west coast theatrical 35mm screenings in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Texas so keep an eye out for our titles on the big screen. We have also co-produced two new films, so we continue to move forward and never look back. Actor/producer Lawrence Dane and actor Robin Gammell both gave us a fun interview for our upcoming DVD release of RITUALS. Lawrence was happy to give us an audio commentary wherein he told some insightful stories about the film. One interesting comment that Lawrence contributed was about why the ending is so poor looking on all prints of the film (it was incorrectly done by the lab at the time and that's all that exists of that footage). Lawrence also talked about his other filmwork and what he is doing today. Robin, on the other hand, is actually getting married soon and is about to now go through some of those type of 'rituals'! RITUALS is coming soon, uncut and in the best possible presentation from the producer's private print. Don't lose your head over it.

ORIGINAL MOLD OF THE STRANGENESS MONSTER DISCOVERED AFTER 29 YEARS!

The DVD of THE STRANGENESS is now available everywhere for all to enjoy, but little did anyone expect the original monster would resurface after so many years! Deep in the bowels of a forgotten garage in Burbank only a couple of months ago, the original plaster mold of the creature was unearthed by the director. Restoration work on the creature has been done by the original sculptor and co-filmmaker Mark Sawicki. Sawicki has since recast the creature and painted it using the original decaying model as reference. Negotiations are underway with Offloadstudios.com to scan the resurrected creature and offer limited edition full color figures for the collector market. The sudden resurgence of interest in the Strangeness along with Sawicki's current books on effects and animation has led to Mark being asked to perform as an actor in independent features again. RIP Fred Travalena

One of TV's most recognizable impressionists and entertainers, nicknamed "The Man of a Thousand Faces", has died. Fred Travalena was only 66. CODE RED worked with Fred in late January of 2009 on the NIGHT OF THE DRIBBLER commentary. When we first called Fred, he was very excited that someone had actually seen the film, which has never been released and was his only lead performance in a motion picture. He gratefully showed up to participate in the commentary track and was in full-on 100% comedy mode. Fred gave us a superbly hilarious and unique commentary for the film as he sat down with lively moderators Marc Edward Heuck and EVIL DEAD writer Scott Spiegel. Fred had a lot of fun doing the commentary and we all enjoyed his jokes and impressions. It will be a memory we'll cherish for the rest of our lives. Our condolences go out to his wife and his children. Thanks for everything, Fred!

On August 18th, Code Red DVD will unleash THE STRANGENESS! It is 1980 and the price of gold is soaring. Old timers warn would be prospectors to stay away from the Gold Spike Mine. It has stood as a ghastly reminder of the horrors of a century before when the earth violently shook and over twenty miners were killed, their bodies stripped of flesh. The residents of Basin City talked of the grisly murders only in whispers from which legends of The Strangeness grew. A small group of explorers innocently make their way to the Gold Spike. A group of traveling mercenaries set stakes in a small Mexican border town where they start up a training camp. These are some seriously bad dudes (as one unlucky biker gang finds out). The mercs come across a young hippie couple on their way to nowhere in particular. After spending some time with them one of the soldiers starts to take a liking to pretty young girl. When he makes his less than good intentions known, the other soldiers get jealous and are soon locked in vicious contest to see who gets to force himself on the unwilling captive. And it just gets weirder from there! An incredibly rare and rarely seen gem of early 70's trash cinema. NEVER RELEASED ON VIDEO!

Mark Sawicki supervises and brings his "monster" for one of our upcoming titles!

Mark Sawicki, a well-established spfx expert in Hollywood, was kind enough to come in and help us supervise a telecine of a cult monster film he did many years ago, and he even brought the monster with him! We found the only surviving 16mm elements of this 1980 monster film (it was shot in 16mm) and we did a new 16x9 widescreen 1:78 transfer (as requested by the director) mastered in Hi-Def! We will be doing an audio commentary with Mark, Chris Huntley, and the elusive director coming soon. We will also include 6 short films they have done in USC. This is a rare, cool 80's monster flick you should definitely check out. Don't be afraid. It's only a movie. We are shooting for a August 18th street date.

In July, we will be releasing three very different films!

On July 14th, we will unleash to an unsuspecting public the first basketball slasher/comedy, NIGHT OF THE DRIBBLER! Then on July 21st, we will release the 1978 action-thriller POWER PLAY! This coup d'etat thriller stars Oscar winner Peter O'Toole, and cult stars David Hemmings, Donald Pleasence, Barry Morse, Alberta Watson, Michael Ironside and Dick Cavett, and was directed by award winner Martyn Burke. Actor-Director Peter Baldwin was kind enough to grant us an on camera interview for one of our upcoming titles that Peter starred in. Peter also granted us a lively audio commentary/interview with HOSTEL producer Scott Spiegel and our extras producer Lee Christian. The film is an Italian giallo also starring some lovely Euro actresses, a British comedian, and a tough guy Italian star playing against type as a bumbling constable. We have a brand new HiDef master in its original scope aspect ratio (2.35:1). All uncut and mastered in HiDef from the original camera negatives! 16x9! 2.35:1 scope! Here are some screenshots of our future release of the Fred Williamson classic MEAN JOHNNY BARROWS. This classic 70's action film also stars Roddy McDowall (PLANET OF THE APES), Stuart Whitman (BLAZING MAGNUM), Mike Henry (SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT), Luther Adler, Anthony Caruso, R.G. Armstrong, and Elliott Gould. The film was a loose reworking of the 1975 classic THE FARMER. This was mastered in HiDef from the original negatives, in it's scope 2.35:1 ratio in 16x9, and will be presented for the first time in its uncut director's cut version! More news to come!

We were able to get a mystery star to not only grant us an audio interview/commentary for our upcoming DVD release of CHEERLEADERS WILD WEEKEND, but she also has agreed to give us her first ever on camera interview! We want to thank her from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time out of her busy shcedule to let us know about working with Jackie Chan, Richard Gere, Ryan O'Neal, etc., and also about what she is doing now. We hope you now understand why we waited to release this title. With this in the can, you can expect a summer release!

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Peter Shepard whom we last spoke to on the phone on 2/09. He wanted to participate on THE VISITOR DVD once he came back to L.A. from France in May. He had been gracious enough to give us an audio commentary for CHOKE CANYON, and we hope you enjoy the many stories he had about Paola Pasolini, as well as working on 1900, THE VISITOR, PIRANHA 2, and TENTACLES. We would like to pay tribute to him and hope you enjoy his audio commentary for CHOKE CANYON, scheduled for a July release.

Legendary funnyman/impressionist Fred Travalena recorded an audio commentary with cult director/writer Scott Spiegel and Code Red moderator/movie geek Marc Edward Heuck for a slasher/comedy he starred in titled NIGHT OF THE DRIBBLER. The film is about a killer with a basketball head who starts to kill the high school basketball team members! Fred plays four roles in the film, and he had a wonderful time doing impressions with our two moderators! We hope you'll have fun, too, when this makes it's U.S debut the summer of this year.

CODE RED recorded an audio commentary & filmed on-camera interviews with John Fasano and Frank Dietz for our upcoming release of ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE, the movie that started the Thor/Fasano craze that is sweeping horror fandom. Thor could not attend the commentary in person, but he joined us via telephone and his comments were recorded at his Canadian studio, making this a joint discussion track for Thor/Fasano/Dietz. The commentary, moderated by THE JITTERS writer Jeff McKay, will be fun and informative to all the horror fans out there who loved or hated the film. This Adam West/Tia Carrere horror film is also beloved by most Mystery Science Theatre fans as one of the craziest movies ever featured on the show! Here are some screenshots of our recent transfer, taken from a recently discovered 35mm vault element, which was supervised and color corrected by the director Willard Huyck, and the editor of the film, Oscar nominee Billy Weber. As you can see, the major difference between our transfer and all those bootleg full frame DVD's is that we preserved the original scope aspect ratio. Mr. Huyck also worked on the colors to make sure it is seen the way he intended it to be seen. The director also let us know that this is his preferred cut, as this print omits that song he never wanted in the final cut. Director Huyck and Gloria Katz will be recording an audio commentary track next month, and we are scheduling the DVD release hopefully for May or June. as a 35th Anniversary Edition. DEVIL'S EXPRESS negatives found!

After four long years of searching, we were convinced we would never find it, but we have just located the original negatives of the blaxploitation, kung fu, gangploitation, subway monster hybrid DEVIL'S EXPRESS! The lab just inspected them and they have confirmed that indeed these are the original negatives, along with the trailer elements. We are getting ready to do a HiDef master and will be working on the extras soon. Hopefully we can have this out in September 2009!

Well, we finally arranged it! Romano Scavolini has just finished what turned out to be a 90 minute on-camera interview with journalist Paolo Zelati. Only problem is, it's in Italian, so we are trying to subtitle it and then see what to keep and what not to keep. Once this is done, we finally will be ready to release the DVD of NIGHTMARE! But it all depends on when we get to subtitle it. If anybody who understands Italian who wants to volunteer, please let us know. Stay tuned.

Code Red acquires a pair of classic 1974 studio released thriller

For our non-horror customers, we are branching out a little bit to other genres and have recently acquired two classic 70's thrillers from the Allied Artists library: the tidy and clever THE INTERNECINE PROJECT starring James Coburn; and the sci-fi/espionage thriller WHO? with Elliott Gould and Trevor Howard, based on a well regarded novel by Algis Budreys. Both will be from HiDef masters. We are planning on some extras for these titles as well. Both are planned for a summer release.

We just finished the transfer on our recently acquired title TRAPPED (aka BAKER COUNTY USA) A 1982 Canadian backwoods thriller starring Henry Silva and Nicholas Campbell and directed by Canadian Cult director William Fruet. The transfer was taken from the original IP and we also hope to do some extras for this title. We are shooting for an early 2009 release.

For our upcoming U.S. release of STUNT ROCK we recorded a bonus audio commentary track a while back, this time with Richard Blackburn of LEMORA fame (he has an acting role in the film) and the producer Martin Fink (who also produced ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST). Both Blackburn and Fink joined director Brian Trenchard Smith in this really fun commentary session as well as a separate on-camera interview. The on camera interview of all three , the bonus commentary track, and the Q and A session Brian did at the Alamo Drafthouse will all be exclusive to the U.S. DVD release which will street on March 31st. We might add one or two more extras for the U.S. STUNT ROCK fans so stay tuned for any updates on the DVD!

Here are some screenshots for some of our upcoming titles in the new year. All have been recently transferred and are ready to go.

Here is RUNNING HOT (aka LUCKY 13) which we are scheduling for February 24th.

Here is a screenshot from STUNT ROCK, which we are scheduling for March 31th. We did the telecine from the recently discovered negatives, in aspect ratio of 2:35 in 16x9. The Aussie DVD will be using our transfer for their upcoming release, but our DVD will have more extras with Brian Trenchard-Smith involved in the DVD production of our release, so hopefully this make the U.S. STUNT ROCK fans happy and await until March 31st.

These shots are from PETS. Since the negatives no longer exist, this was the best print we were able to find. Despite having some big green lines and skips, we hope you approve of us using the only good 35mm element left on this title, and to avoid using an old full frame 3/4 inch tape from 1984. The print isn't perfect, but it looks good with great colors. We hope to have it out before June.

DERBY should be out in February 17, and TEENAGE HITCHHIKERS should be out on March 24th, with TRAPPED should be out in April as well as JIM MARKOVIC'S 42ND STREET TRAILER CLASSIC. We will be speaking with Cliff MacMillan to finalize the street dates in the next couple of days on some of the others! There will also be some more surprises and dates on some previously announced titles so stay tuned!

BUTCHER BAKER NIGHTMARE MAKER update

We delayed BUTCHER BAKER NIGHTMARE MAKER from our October schedule for a reason: we were finally able to arrange an on camera interview with Jimmy McNichol! Since he is busy and no longer lives in L.A., we weren’t able to have him participate on the DVD earlier this year. However, he contacted us and told us he will be in L.A later this year and would love to participate. We felt to have his on camera interview and maybe even an audio commentary was well worth delaying the release for. Fans of the film will surely enjoy seeing how the 70’s teen idol is today, as well as hear what he has to say about the film! We hope you understand the last minute delay, and hope you feel it was the right decision. The DVD is now scheduled for release in April.
